What is Green Technology?
At Tymor we believe that business should be as efficient as possible. “Green” is a new term and means just that, efficiency. It’s a simple fact that one of the most significant costs of IT is electricity. Google built their own Hydro-electric dam and is counting the savings all the way to the bank. Ok, so you’re not Google but you pay bills, right? The average desktop pc uses $.65 per day of electricity (based on .15 per KWH in the Delaware valley area and 175 watts average use for pc and monitor 24 hours per day). While that may not seem like much, if you are running 20 computers and several servers (using as much as 5 to 6 pc’s) you could be spending $18 to $25 per day or $540 to $750 per month. What if you could cut that by half? More?
That’s what the Green Technology Project is all about. Protecting the environment and protecting your cash flow are one in the same thing. Using advanced technology Tymor is able to proactively manage power usage by, for example, setting systems to power down when not in use and power them up remotely for updates, maintenance and management and then power them down again. On-going monitoring and management insures that the savings continue. E-waste recycling is not just a way to avoid the EPA but can be a major contribution to community health and the contribution if made to a reuse center that can provide technology to those less fortunate. Tymor can help you see the opportunity and make it happen for you.
